The story of the first 100 years
The Rosenmeier history goes back to 1898. The company has evolved from
selling and repairing clocks and bicycles to distributing radio and TV
appliances, computer monitors, computer parts and components as well as
accessories to the electronics business.
In 1898 a young man settled in the town of Nørresundby. His name was William
Rosenmeier and in his backpack he had old debts to a German manufacturer of
pianos. In spite of this, he still carried a dream of being self-employed
and independent in a time of evolution.
November 3.rd. in 1898, he opened his own business in Vestergade. He ran an
ad in the local paper offering sales and repairs of clocks and music
instruments. The story could have ended there, if it wasn’t for his wife
Petrea, who against her husbands knowledge, played the lottery. Her
“gambling” was the turning point for Wiliam Rosenmeier, because she won the
lottery and claimed DKr. 1.250 kr., which she gave to her husband.
At that time, it was enough money for Wiliam Rosenmeier to pay of his debts
and consolidate his business in Vestergade and it gave him the opportunity
to expand his business to also sell bicycles and accessories. The bycicle
store grew rapidly, and was in 1922 taken over by his son Lars Rosenmeier,
who clearly had inherited his dad’s talent for business.
Lars Rosenmeier was a man of vision and he didn’t settle for the sales of
bicycles. As one of the first businesses in Denmark, he included radio
appliances in 1928 and focused on that during the winter season and bicycles
during the summer.
Third generation of the family was Jørn William Rosenmeier and he also had a
flair for business and sales. As the first in the region, he had faith in
the products of a small, newly established company owned by two gentlemen –
Mr. Bang and Olufsen.
As his father and grandfather, Jørn W. Rosenmeier was a man of vision and
under his management, Rosenmeier developed into the largest wholesale
company for Radio and TV appliances in Denmark under the name Lars
Rosenmeier ApS.
Vestergade was exchanged for Bejlerholm
The Rosenmeier company was located at the address Vestergade 27, Nørresundby
for more than a 100 years but with as the business grew, the company needed
new facilities around the new millennium. In the year 2000, the company
moved to its present location in spacious buildings that offer space, energy
and room for great thoughts. The current address is Bejlerholm 3 in
Nørresundby.
Rosenmeier, Triade and the future
In 2007 80 % of the company was sold to the Dutch capital venture group
Triade leaving the remaining 20% to two of Jørn W. Rosenmeier sons – the
4th. generation of the company’s original founder. Today the company is
headed by Jørn Rosenmeier as the General Managing Director and Joen
Rosenmeier as Managing Sales Director.
Through this sale, Rosenmeier Electronics A/S is now part of a Dutch
